Baby's First Bed and BeyondGorgi has spent a little time pondering this information section, there are numerous websites that give you a long list of 'essentials' or 'must haves' however we know that often this is a more or less just a marketing ploy to encourage to buy with gay abandon. Kirstin Bailey Gorgi's director has three boys and can agree with experience in regards to this sentiment - "I went crazy with ny first baby - Bodhi (now 14 years), and in fact ended up giving a great deal of unused items away to friends who had subsequent babies as I simply did not need them". We are not going to detail clothing as our focus here is on Baby's bedroom or 'the nursery' and what we believe you need to put in it to make your littles one's room a safe, nurturing and comfortable environment (we have also sought some expert advice in compiling this list, just to ensure that we are on the right track)! 1 x Touchwood Cot and mattress We choose to promote and recommend this brand for the reasons sited below: 1 x Mattress Bassinet and Cot Mattress Protector 2-3 x Bassinet and Cot Sheets - we recommend 100% cotton 1-2 x Gorgi Wool Aircell Blankets 1 x Gorgi Baby Shawl or Receiving Blanket - although this is not essential it is mighty useful for late night feeds especially in cooler months...could be the perfect babyshower gift! 2-3 x cloth Nappies or Cotton Baby Wraps - great for spills in the cot. 1 x Baby Sleep Bag - there are numerous to choose from we do however recommend a Merino or cotton sleep bag. These are great underneath our Gorgi Blankets during cooler months, babies are known to sleep better and wake less when parents use a sleep bag. 1x Cariboo or Touchwood Change Table - You have just carried a baby for nine months, delivered the baby and will spend months ahead carrying, picking up and nursing your little one. Your back has and will continue to be placed under stress for the months ahead. Please consider carefully the strain that you place your back under when bending over and changing baby on a low surface or on a bed. Babies need frequent changes, particulalry if you have a baby that spills or is unwell, we highly recommend and promote the use of a change table or at least a change pad. Please consider both yourself and your baby's safety when exploring these options. |
