If we could understand the squeaks and clicks of whale language, ‘Love us don’t hunt us’ would surely be the primitive sentiment. When Gorgi director Kirstin Bailey asked New Zealand Artist Penny Stotter to create a visual manifestation of this mantra, the idea was to produce a subtle take on an ecological theme – a cheeky kind of bedroom or lounge room activism.
In teaming up with Project Jonah, the range effectively puts its money where its mouth – or baleen filter – is, with $2 from each cushion sold going to help protect the very animals which inspired the idea.
Robust, stylish and designed in neutral colours, the Love Us Don’t Hunt Us range is equally at home in both modern and traditional interiors. This cushion features an image of two humpback whales and the Wood Pidgeon or 'Kereru' and is the story image for this collection and creates the elements for other peices in this collection. It is manufactured using a soft linen cotton blend fabric in a natural sand colour, it is finished with a zip closure and filled with a feather inner.
Cushions in this collection are sold in scatter size only and measure 50x 50cm.
