Why the name? Madder Red was was an ancient dyestuff, extracted from the root of the madder plant, growing in many countries around the world. The secret and devilishly complex Oriental dyeing process to obtain the lustrous colour known as Turkey Red was avidly sought by Europeans, from the time before the fall of Ancient Rome. It was finally cracked by the French about 1760, who were able to dye wool, silk and cotton to bright red.
Gorgi's oxford pillowcases are designed with a 5cm sham or hemmed edge running along all four sides of the pillowcase (almost as if there is a frame surrounding the pillow inner).
Our Madder Red Collection Oxford Pillowcases in White with Scarlet Ticking Stripe have a full ticking stripe front with a 100% white cotton percale reverse and are sold individually without inners.
To care for your pillowcase, machine wash on a cool temperature setting, using a rinse cycle if there's one available. Wash your cottons separately as other fabrics may pill and leave deposits. We do not recommend tumble drying, line drying is the preferred option.
