Art prints reproduced onto tea towels and cushions are becoming a popular option as customers seek to incorporate functional art pieces within their home environment. Gorgi's growing range of designer tea towels can be used traditionally to dry the dishes (if you really must) but most commonly are bought for wall hangings, or framed for the wall - an inexpensive way of introducing NZ art into your home.
Each tea towel is printed onto canvas or drill and is sized at 50x 70cm.
Dish & Spoon is a new design by Nikki Apse. It's a whimsical take on the nursery rhyme, with the intention of injecting some fun and personality in the kitchen.
"The idea came to me while reading bedtime stories. Sometimes, while I'm lying on the bed in the dim light of early evening reading to my children, I find my mind wandering off and I start 'sketching' little ideas. For me, old rhymes and story books evoke warm feelings of nostalgia and transcend age and culture. I wanted to recreate those ideas and memories and translate them visually in a playful, simple and contemporary way. I've always been interested in the meeting of art and everyday objects, in design and function. The environments we create and the things we surround ourselves with not only inspire and engage us as grown ups, but also the hearts and minds of our children, encouraging their extraordinary imaginations and leaving marks on their world." - Nikki Apse, Artist
